{SS} Maximize the World - 2:28

"Sounds great!"

date: October 29, 2006

Nice starting vox, you say that or use a voice generator?

Reviewing as it plays, the synths seem a little basic at the start, but doesn't do much harm to the song in the long run.
The drumline needs to be a bit louder, it's pretty much drained out aside from the hats, don't be afraid to use a compresser on it!
The Acid/Moog synth you bring in about 30 sec or so into the song is awesome, brings in alot of energy!
Your bass is OK, could be a little louder imo, but I know that's tough to do on alot of programs so I can't say there's much wrong there.

Overall, this gets an 8 by my book, definately put alot of effort into this and it's pretty diverse!

Author's Response:

:D great review, thanks!
I actually found the vox on this site that had all these ghey answering machinge msgs, and then I heard that one and I was like OMGF that's kickass, so I used it.
I would record my own vox, but honestly my voice isn't quite good yet, if you know what I mean ;-)
This started out as an experimentation with drums, so I wasn't exactly sure how to make them sound perfect.

I realized overall that this track sounded a little too high-passed, but I didn't feel like remastering it so i kept it that way.

thanks for being honest with the scores :D

Awesome music btw

"Lovin that intro!"

submission: Shadows & Threats
date: October 28, 2006

That intro is sick man! I want to know what you used! XD

That arp that comes in soon after though that's off-pitch, didn't really sound too good, drags on for most of the song I hear. I reccomend doing a normal note or 2 followed by a minor to get the effect you're trying to get.
Your instruments are great btw. Drumline was pretty good too.

Good to hear some more breakbeat stuff in the portal! (slow dnb you can generally call breakbeat)

I give this a 4/5

ps: I want whatever you used at the start of the song so bad :P

Author's Response:

Hay thanks alot. And that intro is just a really slowed down drumm loop that i messed with a bit. I amplifyied the kind of bonging sound with a sort of metalic filter. The loop itself was good i just sort of messed with it a bit. This is out of GarageBand. I really want to get a different program though GarageBand has to many limits.

Oh and that uneven kind of sound was me trying to be creative. At first it was just a slow bass sound but then i put another layer under that. I played on the keyboard and It dose sound really off so that's mybad.

Thanks again for the rewiew.

"You want a review here's a review ;)"

date: October 22, 2006

You asked for one here you go! :P
You've got a really diverse feeling going through the whole song, constantly changing and the panning changes on most of the instruments, difinately good. The instruments (I still want those soundfonts :P) are chosen pretty good, sorta sounds like neo-80's if you know what I mean. For the clarity, I havn't heard any peaking at all and there's no distortion.
Originality: it's a remix so yeah :P

Only thing I didn't like was the ending was really abrupt, a little decay would be alot better for it

Author's Response:

yaa.. the instruments just ended.. i wanted to change that but i was too far ahead in the mastereing process so i said "fuck it"

lol thanks for the much bitched after review!

"Nice Happy Hardcore track"

submission: {Midnight}
date: September 13, 2006

Just ran across your stuff a little earlier, and I have to say, you've got alot of talent with your leads! I never could've imagined a 2 note 1 step arp done so well, not to mention the great piano instrument you used for the song.

You did a nice job keeping a constant beat going without it getting repetitive, that can be a real bitch with happy hardcore but you pulled it off nicely

Overall this track is damn near perfect, it's this kind of stuff that I like to hear out of a DJ :)

only issue I heard was a slight bit of peaking about 2 minutes into it, nothing major though, I nearly missed it and I'm used to listening for that kind of stuff.

You did a nice job on this track man, looking forward to hearing more of your stuff in the future!

ps:What program are you using? Sounds like FL Studio, but I could be wrong

Author's Response:

wait, you're the breakbeat man, right?

whee :D

you got it, I'm using FL studio... with lots of vsts/soundfonts. :) but yea, I'm focusing on some simpler stuff for the time. This was my first shot at happy hardcore. :D Glad you liked it. Thanks for the review!

"Gotta love a good breakbeat!"

submission: Robotonic
date: August 2, 2006

I need to get around reviewing more of your songs XD
On this one, I think the lead you introduce about 45 seconds in or so is introduced a bit loud. but when you lower the volume it sounds great with the rest of the beat.
I really like this one, I'm a bit of a freak for breakbeats XD
ps: forgot your tag.

-DJ Comet

Author's Response:

Yeah, breakbeats forever man!
I've been a bit lazy reviewing others lately, but I'll be sure to drop by your page really soon.

Hey, you're absolutely right about that volume spike, I don't know for the life of me how that happened!

Thanks as always Comet.

"You got tagged!"

date: June 21, 2006

Hey you finally tagged your audio! :D

I havn't listened to this with headphones on yet, I instead put my subwoofer on for that kicker :P

I really like alot of the synths you used in this, GREAT liquid trance style synths!
You kept the whole song really diverse which is great, never felt repetitive at any point in the song.
While a couple of the transitions seemed a slight bit strange, it didn't do enough to hinder the song overall, still loving the track!
As for the end, imo I think a more sudden build up then hard kick+cymbal+hit would've worked better, but that's just how I like it, nothing wrong with the fade out.
on a side note, I don't think I've kept closer tabs on someone's music in AWHILE XD

ps:You're using FL Studio 6 right? If you want we could do a collab sometime, catch me on msn: cometentertainment@yahoo.com

Author's Response:

Hey man, I'll certainly add you at the firt chance!
Thanks for the helpful review, I can definitely see where you're coming from.

"Hey I never wanted Satan!"

date: June 20, 2006

I'm an atheist! XD

and yes we will do more eventually ;) I can't wait for you to get good and develop a unique sound, then we could really put together something tight! :D

Author's Response:

I noly added satan to make it sound less boring, because scythe made me think of a farm, this song we made, does not fit a farmer, unless he is cool and kills annoying geeks :P

"nice break"

submission: Lost Sleep
date: June 20, 2006

The start of this song is hella trippy :P
I really like the breaks on this one, imo this song would fit probably breakbeat more than trip-hop. Great song though, here's another download for ya :)

You should really tag your audio, name your songs something like DJ_padman-*name* or something like that

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review dude! Sleep deprivation can give a guy some strange ideas. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what trip-hop is, so forgive me if I classify it incorrectly.
Thanks for the feedback, and damn, I always forget to name it! ;)

Charred Army

"holy hell...."

submission: Charred Army
date: June 19, 2006

damn, how the hell has nobody noticed your audio?!
I have NEVER seen somebody do that kind of magic with Hoover bass before, you've got me wowed big time!
The only thing that bothered me at times was the drumline, it seems pretty familiar compared to alot of dnb songs out there. But your leads are great, the perfect amount of filtering and overdrive, pure acid!

I'm DEFINATELY going to be keeping tabs on you, this song is incredible!

btw, I should almost forcefully make you post here, it's the Audio Advertisements thread in the forums, people DO look in there, you can rack up some nice downloads, votes, and feedback from there

http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=253861

Author's Response:

Hoovers rock, a bit of portamento can really give a bassline juice I've found. Good observations there, the drumline is not too adventurous, I must look at that aspect again, I appreciate your advice :)
BTW, I'm flattered that you took the time to post on my behalf in the Audio advertisement thread. Not many people would actually do that, so you have my thanks.
Thanks for the insight, and the lead ;)
