That was sick!

After listening through this, this was an awesome breakbeat!

So much acid :D

There were a couple of instruments like that one beeping one that you bring in once or twice that kinda seemed useless in the song, but they don't harm it much

The drumlines are nice and powerful, major kudos on that

The melody keeps on the move through the whole song, another major kudos! :)

good stuff, 9/10

ps: what program are you using? I'm guessing Reason

O_O

Holy shit I never knew someone could make something so sick using Mixman Studio's stuff
(I want those man, I can't get the track files except the .wavs from the cd anymore since Mixman Studio 2 only works on win95)

Tons of energy in this, love the overall sound and has a really professional sound

Watch your guitar a little though, there was some peaking each time you had that going with the Jupiter Bass track

Shamshire responds:

I use Mixman Studio Pro v4.0 and Mixman DM^2, and they do me just fine! :]

The guitar tracks were not done by me, they were done by a good friend of mine. He actually took the original HighMill (down below) and laid that guitar track over it without my knowledge. Then he told me what he'd done and it sounded really good, so I trimmed it a little and we both laid it out through our respective websites (this being one of mine).

Glad you enjoyed it!

Not quite my first review

...so this review won't have as much justice as your first review being for one of my songs, but hey common courtesy eh?

This sounds like either FL Studio or Garage Band possibly, either way I love the beat you have going. Simple beat that you can't get out of your head, loops too so don't be surprised if I use this on a flash game ;)

I wouldn't touch this song for improvements as it's perfect as it is, but if you want to try something try boosting the bass and a little of the midrange on your kickers, gives them a much meaner punch and adds more energy to the track.
Some reverb on your synths could make them sound more epic and make them sound like they're all around you if you're wearing headphones.

I can't get this out of my head, kudos man!

Holy shit.

Damn dude the last time I pulled off 3 awards for the week was.....my god over 2 years ago!
Major kudos on that!

Now for the song....
reviewing while listening
I like this intro, gets right into this nice dark beat, really nice complexity there
Like that flute in the back, really atmospheric sound with the darker bass and hats

Here comes the signature bassline of dj_padman1, dark, sorta moogish sound, out of control but controlled :)

Drumlines are sounding a bit drained out by the bass, I can't feel the hits of the kickers much, they could use a heavier attack, same for the snares

For some reason I keep thinking of Lost Sleep while listening to this, ALOT of stuff going on at once but it all "clicks" and gets really good

I don't even want to think about how many patterns you used....omg there are so many things that go on throughout the song XD

Like what I'm hearing, you get your 100th DL from me, a 5, and one more song slipped onto my playlist!

dj-padman1 responds:

Wow, Comet, thanks for the detailed review, its much appreciated!
I can certainly see where you're coming from, and I'm grateful for the input.
I must visit your page, its been a while!

Nice :)

More jungle than breakbeat, but I like it :D

No idea where you got those drums, not sure if I've heard them anywhere. Nice synthwork with sytrus, I see you had alot of fun with slides XD

One thing I want to point out is that this was peeking EVERYWHERE /|O¬O;|\
Try putting a Soft Clipper into your master FX, I do that in all my songs and it takes care of 99% of my peaking worries

Keep at it!
-DJC

AnSpal1202 responds:

thanx for the soft clipper tip, I dont know how to automate it but I can still use it in the master insert. I love the drums too, they arent nearly as good as urs tho ;).

Nice Happy Hardcore track

Just ran across your stuff a little earlier, and I have to say, you've got alot of talent with your leads! I never could've imagined a 2 note 1 step arp done so well, not to mention the great piano instrument you used for the song.

You did a nice job keeping a constant beat going without it getting repetitive, that can be a real bitch with happy hardcore but you pulled it off nicely

Overall this track is damn near perfect, it's this kind of stuff that I like to hear out of a DJ :)

only issue I heard was a slight bit of peaking about 2 minutes into it, nothing major though, I nearly missed it and I'm used to listening for that kind of stuff.

You did a nice job on this track man, looking forward to hearing more of your stuff in the future!

ps:What program are you using? Sounds like FL Studio, but I could be wrong

cornandbeans responds:

wait, you're the breakbeat man, right?

whee :D

you got it, I'm using FL studio... with lots of vsts/soundfonts. :) but yea, I'm focusing on some simpler stuff for the time. This was my first shot at happy hardcore. :D Glad you liked it. Thanks for the review!

Gotta love a good breakbeat!

I need to get around reviewing more of your songs XD
On this one, I think the lead you introduce about 45 seconds in or so is introduced a bit loud. but when you lower the volume it sounds great with the rest of the beat.
I really like this one, I'm a bit of a freak for breakbeats XD
ps: forgot your tag.

-DJ Comet

dj-padman1 responds:

Yeah, breakbeats forever man!
I've been a bit lazy reviewing others lately, but I'll be sure to drop by your page really soon.

Hey, you're absolutely right about that volume spike, I don't know for the life of me how that happened!

Thanks as always Comet.

aiii I never reviewed something I worked on!

Had alot of fun with this collab :D
Hope our next one's even better!

PS: the song is also on my page here:

You got tagged!

Hey you finally tagged your audio! :D

I havn't listened to this with headphones on yet, I instead put my subwoofer on for that kicker :P

I really like alot of the synths you used in this, GREAT liquid trance style synths!
You kept the whole song really diverse which is great, never felt repetitive at any point in the song.
While a couple of the transitions seemed a slight bit strange, it didn't do enough to hinder the song overall, still loving the track!
As for the end, imo I think a more sudden build up then hard kick+cymbal+hit would've worked better, but that's just how I like it, nothing wrong with the fade out.
on a side note, I don't think I've kept closer tabs on someone's music in AWHILE XD

ps:You're using FL Studio 6 right? If you want we could do a collab sometime, catch me on msn: cometentertainment@yahoo.com

dj-padman1 responds:

Hey man, I'll certainly add you at the firt chance!
Thanks for the helpful review, I can definitely see where you're coming from.
Catch ya later ;)

Hey I never wanted Satan!

I'm an atheist! XD

and yes we will do more eventually ;) I can't wait for you to get good and develop a unique sound, then we could really put together something tight! :D

B34T1N responds:

I noly added satan to make it sound less boring, because scythe made me think of a farm, this song we made, does not fit a farmer, unless he is cool and kills annoying geeks :P

Sanity is grossly overrated and detrimental to the creative process.
