Landfall

"Nice track"

submission: Landfall
date: February 13, 2008

I loved that intro you had going, reminds me a bit of Helix's industrial stuff

For the genre, I'd call this either breakbeat (too slow for DnB, but DnB is the closest to DnB there is on NG for genres) or dark step

The atmosphere was pretty nice in this one, it seemed like on top of the song itself, there's a aura of sorts in the background giving the less busy parts of the song more energy.

No real complaints about this aside from the length, it's really short, but sick

Author's Response:

Darkstep is what I'd call it. But you know how NG is with subgenres. :)

DJ S - Heart Pulse

"o.o"

submission: DJ S - Heart Pulse

This could make for an insane DnB track, increase the bass on your master effects, you'll see what I mean

Alot of your instruments go quiet near the end, potentially awesome stuff sorta drops out of the picture, make sure you keep the parts you want people to hear the most the louder bits ;)

ps: could you send me a copy of your project file for this? I want to try something with your score for the helluvit

Author's Response:

hey man, i can send u the project file for this, but you wont be that happy cause it is in Dance Ejay 7. PM me if u still want it.

Quiet the master/bass's volume down!! o.o;
It's causing the whole song to become staticy (aka peaking)

The song itself is pretty good, breaktrance stuff always has appealed to me :)

Fix that volume up and this song'll be pretty nice :)

Author's Response:

Yeah you're right, the bass is to loud, I'll try lowering it. THanks a lot for the review

NL - Intense Battle

"Needs some mastering work"

date: January 23, 2008

The drums are loud yeah, but that's not the main issue, you need to boost up your basslines a bit. Even with my nice headphones on the quieter/deeper bassline doesn't have enough of a kick to it

The hoovers are ok, not the best instrument to slip in there imo, but it works out.

Your main lead seems out of tune in the last note of the pattern

It's a good start though I guess, the drumline was good

January 23, 2008

Author's Response:

I made this as a joke. I did some mastering on it, simply by putting a notch at 4.5khz, some EQing and a Master Limiter.

There are no hoovers... just something I made in 3xOsc. I guess it sounds a bit like a hoover.

I don't really know... I didn't think anyone would comment on the melody anyways... I was criticized by Endlessnumber for having minor seconds... but its ok.

The drumline was good, eh? Download it... I made those breaks, and I've been uploading them for free: http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/8 33332.

This song was made really as a joke. I have some actual drum and bass songs, with growling reeses and punchy hits in the works. Just wait and see... They'll be on my main, Navij11, if at all.

"Great!"

submission: Winterbliss

Progressive trance that sounds like Goa Psy \o/

You did a VERY nice job at building up the atmosphere, the pads in the background were really high in quality, and the strings only added more to the feeling when they came in. The intro was very nice also, the vocal bits here and there did wonders!

Definite download from me, there's alot to this song, can't just listen to it once :)

Author's Response:

Yep, I'm heavily goa inspired. Infected Mushroom is one of my favourite artists. :)

"Nice work"

submission: Ghostwave
date: January 17, 2008

All around pretty nice work! Repetitive, yeah, but you have a nice beat going through the song so it doesn't bother you.

My only complaint is that in alot of sections the kicker felt like it could use a harder attack or something like that (noticed you automated/LFO the kicker, havn't heard that in awhile)

January 18, 2008

Author's Response:

Now that you mention it, yeah, the kick could've used a little more... kick to it? lol. Luckily as of yet it doesn't overshadow anything so that's a blessing really. But I do understand what you mean and I'll keep it in mind for the next one. :D

I'm glad you liked it mate. :D

Extreme chase loop (dnb)

"Simple but effective!"

date: December 14, 2007

This would work well as both a character select BGM for a fighting game or in a break for a larger DnB track.

Only thing I can suggest is to maybe have the drums have a harder attack, but that's more of a preference thing.

"not bad for a first"

submission: Breakbeat Central
date: December 14, 2007

Big thing here is to remaster it a bit, do some volume adjustments and try some compressors and soft clippers.

Drumline was pretty good, definately ragga style

Bass was pretty deep but just didn't seem vicious enough, maybe a synth playing with it in the midrange could help?

not bad though, I'd keep at it if I were you :)

I reached this on a misclick on the AP frontpage and DAMN this is a sick acid track.

Nice stuff, I love the energy levels you've got going here, and the synths were perfect, no peaking either!

Nothing I can really suggest to improve on this song, very professional :)

"I must remix this o.o"

date: November 12, 2007

The score was great, just you need some better instruments. the potential is through the roof!

I REALLY want to try my hand at remixing this, do I have a go-ahead? :)

November 12, 2007

Author's Response:

Thanks, ya... go ahead and remix... just give me credit where credit is due... :P. I'm excited to hear your remix. I hope it is awesomely popular. I dont see myself as a good techno music maker.... just a good music writer. I'm working on my software skills.... :P.
